The CCO will identify and develop relationships with external agencies, providers, and community groups to collaborate in the clinical care of CHAIL clients. CHAIL is located in Peoria, a city in central Illinois with a metro area population of over 400,000. Peoria is a trading and shipping center on the Illinois River and home to major manufacturing, agricultural and healthcare interests. Peoria is the home of both Bradley University and the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Clinical When issues of mental health and psychiatric care are at play, it is critical to provide children and families with the specialized therapy, counseling, and support they need to heal from trauma. Children’s Home & Aid Child and Family Counseling programs provide extra support, guidance, and positive experiences to youth of all ages, races, and cultural backgrounds. These programs help children and families make positive changes in their lives, maximize their potential, and improve their function in society. Prevention The right resources and support for the beginning can make a world of difference in the lives of children and families. CHAIL’s foster care program is one of three major foster care agencies within the community. Currently, the agency has roughly 200 families and provides both traditional and specialized foster placements to kids from across the state of Illinois.
The Academy for Autism provides specialized curriculum to students with autism spectrum disorder. In the 1990s, CHAIL gained an increased focus on preventing criminal activity to avert youth from entering the juvenile Department of Corrections. In 2007, CHAIL acquired Youth Farm Inc., a residential facility that now houses up to 50 children with severe behavioral and emotional disorders. Each December, Peoria Magazine highlights area women who are making a difference in central Illinois, in conjunction with a half-day forum featuring breakout sessions, panels, featured speakers and more.
Children born in high-risk environments face significant barriers to healthy development and learning. Research shows that children from high-risk environments on average test at a 3-year-old level upon entering kindergarten. The CCO will be responsible for maintaining operational standards for all clinical staff including quality of care, billing management, compliance, and adherence to government contracts, etc.
Youth Farm is a campus of fifty youth that provides short-term, intensive residential treatment prior to returning to a less restrictive environment. Youth Farm is a no-decline QRTP that accepts kids with severe behavioral health concerns. Kiefer School is a therapeutic day school providing an alternative academic setting to students no longer thriving in their home school district. For many Kiefer students, their past trauma and history of abuse have resulted in behavioral issues that no longer allow them to safely participate in a general education school setting. This organization not only brought relief to families in need, but they also sought to solve the larger systemic problem of poverty among women and children in our community.
